Here are selected stats for the twelve Wade Award final candidates, prior to any NCAA tournament games:
| Name | ORtg | DRtg | %Tm Poss | TS% | Reb% |
| Seimone Augustus | 137 | 79 | 21% | .621 | 8% |
| Jessica Davenport | 129 | 72 | 19% | .657 | 16% |
| Sophia Young | 129 | 77 | 22% | .585 | 16% |
| Tasha Humphrey | 128 | 86 | 20% | .609 | 16% |
| Monique Currie | 128 | 78 | 16% | .581 | 11% |
| Khara Smith | 127 | 74 | 18% | .616 | 20% |
| Candice Wiggins | 126 | 84 | 22% | .617 | 8% |
| Cappie Pondexter | 126 | 82 | 25% | .588 | 7% |
| Ivory Latta | 124 | 80 | 19% | .615 | 4% |
| Sherill Baker | 120 | 82 | 21% | .563 | 7% |
| Sylvia Fowles | 119 | 65 | 19% | .618 | 23% |
| Candice Dupree | 112 | 76 | 22% | .545 | 14% |
And here are the same numbers for the two players that I thought should have made the list, whether or not they're freshmen:
| Name | ORtg | DRtg | %Tm Poss | TS% | Reb% |
|
| Candace Parker | 128 | 79 | 19% | .598 | 16% |
| Courtney Paris | 122 | 73 | 23% | .588 | 27% |
Just from a quick eyeball, I can't really see the committee giving the award to anyone but Seimone Augustus, despite my love and respect for Mo Currie. Seimone's offensive production make up for her weaker rebounding numbers and average ranking on defense. (By average, I mean compared to the other twelve candidates, of course.) I do think that the two freshmen should have made the final list, though, at the expense of Sherill Baker and Candice Dupree.
About these numbers: ORtg, or Offensive Rating, measures the number of points an individual produces over 100 possessions, similar to the Team O-Rating.
DRtg (guess what) stands for Defensive Rating, or the number of points an individual allows over the same 100 possessions. (D-Rating is much harder to quantify, due to the types of statistics kept - not as much info on the defensive end.)
Percent of Team Possession (
%TM Poss) refers to how many possessions a player "uses up", through baskets, missed shots, assists, turnovers, etc. Lower numbers indicate a more balanced team, and 20% is about average.
TS% refers to total scoring efficiency, and is more accurate than just field goal percentage, as it includes free throws and is weighted to account for threes.
Reb% is the percentage of available rebounds grabbed by that player.
